About Us
Mo
Hello. My name is Mo.
I am a qualified teacher of Psychology and Sociology based in York. I have over 20 years experience of teaching both subjects at GCSE, A level and Access level. I also work as a senior examiner for a major exam board, as well as having lead successful departments of both Psychology and Sociology in both further and secondary education.
I offer tailored private tuition for students doing GCSE, A Level, IFP and Access courses. I am passionate about my teaching and offer a student centred approach where each session is planned and moulded to fit the needs of the student. I focus on successful exam technique and marking skills, allowing the student to develop a deeper understanding of what is required of them to achieve excellent results. The students work is regularly marked and discussed giving them feedback as to their progress and the knowledge of how to correct any errors and gain higher grades. I firmly believe that one to one tuition nurtures students to trust their own abilities and knowledge, leading to a more confident, enjoyable and successful learning experience.
I have specialist experience of working with both neurodiverse students and those with additional needs. One to one tuition can provide a safe working environment that allows the students to fully engage with their learning in a way that suits them. I have completed several training courses in recent years with special focus on ADHD, autism and young peoples mental health.
I also work as a freelance academic author. I have produced examination materials for a number of institutions and also written teaching resources for supporting teachers in both A level and GCSE Psychology. I have worked with the Oxford University press on it’s new GCSE Psychology textbook and A level Psychology resources.
Authored resources include:
- Super Simple Psychology (co-authored)
- EdExcel Bio-psychology
- AQA approaches
- AQA Schizophrenia
- AQA Aggression
- AQA Health
Saima
Hi, I’m Saima.
I have been an A Level Psychology teacher and examiner for over 15 years teaching across England, New York, Morocco and the Middle East. More recently I have moved back to the UK and transitioned full time to private tutoring where I teach one on one lessons catered specifically for that student.
I pride myself on being approachable and friendly with the ability to quickly build a rapport and teach difficult concepts with ease. My lessons are designed with the students' needs in mind. This can include discussions, question and answer, exam style and prep along with lectures, if needed.
My priority is that the student is benefiting and learning from the sessions and so identifying their key needs is paramount. Being a private tutor is really rewarding as you can design each lesson with that one student in mind and focus on whatever their needs may be. This leads to a much more positive learning experience as the student overcomes their areas of development and can see their progress. I also have SEN training and so students who may not have their needs and comfort met in the classroom can benefit from one on one tuition as this can feel like a safer option for them.
As someone who studied A Level Psychology themselves and went on to further study it at degree level, I know first hand the pressure that students are under, it is with that knowledge that I have managed to become a highly experienced and effective tutor centring my lessons around the student.
